Waste Category #1. Food

Thanks thus far for the views, suggestions and/or ideas. I’m sure all will agree that food whether cooked or uncooked is somewhere atop the list. We see it on public holidays (e.g. Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter). Even picnics, parties and many such like events. I have heard of hotels and restaurants that throw away food. Is it true ? Can anyone shed light on the reasons behind that?

  1. I think there are a number of reasons. It would sanitary reasons, expiration dates on the food items, lack of resources as to where to donate or bring food and time.
The restaurants/hotels can have advance donation places, homes etc that can benefit from excess food.

  2. I stand 100% with your views on food wastage. Large amount goes down the garbage every single day and what are we doing about it? Nothing. I have a suggestion, why not buy a quantity of disposal boxes put the remaining food in such well put out and distribute to the person’s on the street that can’t afford. In that case the large amount will never be wasted and a hungry mouth will be feed the same time.
